Cringe is a Doorway

(and Other Hopeful Mischief)

Good morning beautiful people,

This week I made a boo-boo — I hit “send” instead of “schedule” on a my post. But rather than shrink in shame, I’m turning it into a fresh experiment. Welcome to this week’s Hope Dispatch, a snappy little roundup inspired by my latest #DareDream: a future built on care, creativity, and courageous imagining.

Hopeful reads

There is much work to do in transforming our world . It starts with changing the narrative. The stories we tell shape the futures we believe in. If we want more justice, joy, and generosity, we need to get better at storytelling — hope-forward, possibility-rich, and contagious enough to bring others along for the ride.

Hopeful Idea

Dare Dreaming Card #3

Not all systems need to be smashed — some are ripe for rewilding from within. It’s not either/or, it’s both/and. Revolutions can look like marches or murmurs, megaphones or slow burns. So here’s your prompt:

Where can you make necessary trouble this week?

Hopeful Practice: Catch it, challenge it, compassion it, change it, connect.

CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) is a trusty tool for when your brain decides to take a detour through doom-town. But here’s my remix: add a liberal dose of compassion.

Why? Because self-compassion flips the script. It places you in a loving, wise, withnessing relationship with yourself — like being your own badass fairy godparent. It also helps you see the anxiety spiral for what it often is: a product of systems designed to keep us small and stuck.

And finally: connect. Reach out. Text someone. Laugh at a meme together. Let the web hold you.

Beacons of Hope: Floating Farms Addressing Food Security in the Netherlands

  • Fresh local food in urban centres

  • Smart use of space (because floating = no land needed)

  • Circular systems turning waste into resources

It’s a triple win — for the planet, people, and innovation. Float on, friends.

Hopeful Action

Let’s be real. The hardest revolution? The one inside us.

Gandhi said, “If you want to change the world, start with yourself.”
Ugh, right? That quote has big eye-roll energy. But a wise old friend once told me:
“Cringe is a doorway.”

So open the damn door. Walk through. Be weird. Be brave. Be the change.

x Megan

P.S. How does this vibe sit with you? More of this? Less of that? Hit reply and tell me what you think — I don’t bite 🙂

P.P.S. Know someone who could use a little hope hit? Forward this their way and let’s start a joy chain reaction.

P.P.P.S. What lit you up this week? Big or small, I’d love to know — so I can shine that light even further.
